The FX9 ships as standard with a 35Wh Sony BP battery. For many users, their first thought will be how to use high capacity broadcast batteries for all day shoots.
Sony offers an all-singing extension unit, the XDCA-FX9. As well as offering a battery mounting plate, it’s a true expansion system, delivering functionality such as 16-bit RAW output, wireless audio support and network capabilities. For many, this expensive add-on will be hard to justify.
Core SWX’s CXV-FX9 battery mount attaches directly to the back of the Sony PXW-FX9. This precisely engineered aluminium product inserts into the battery slot of the camera and also attaches into the top of the camera to provide a secure platform for mounting v-mount batteries directly onto the FX9.
The battery status LED is particularly useful: it monitors the external power supply and/or the battery sources and alerts the user if the power source dips to below 12.5v. Without this feature, there’s the risk of an unexpected camera shutdown and irretrievable data loss.
