Description
The plug and play Epiphan AV.io 4K™ capture card is auto-detected by Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems. To capture HDMI video sources, simply connect the included cables from your video source to AV.io 4K then connect AV.io 4K to your computer via USB.
AV.io 4K captures resolutions up to 4096×2160, with 4K UHD video streaming at 30 fps and 1080p at 60 fps. Choose to use your video at its original resolution or let AV.io scale it for you to exactly what you need.
This hand-size grabber fits in any kit, or even your pocket, in a pinch. It is a USB video grabber, so its HDMI capture works perfectly up to 4K on any computer with USB 3.0.
AV.io 4K captures video and audio as it happens. Your video capture software gets the frames so fast (just 1 to 2 frames of latency), you may even find it difficult to see any lag at all.
AV.io 4K captures PCM audio over HDMI™ at up to 24-bit 96 kHz. The two-channel stereo audio output has automatic resampling at 48 kHz and encodes in 16-bit.
Works seamlessly with your favorite paid or free applications such as Wirecast, Skype, Adobe FMLE, QuickTime, VLC media player and Windows Camera. Save captured content and upload to video platforms such as YouTube, Vimeo and others with ease.
AV.io 4K capture card is perfect for reliable and repeated long-term use. It uses the same metal exterior as all other Epiphan video grabbers, which means that you could drop it down a flight of stairs and step on it, and it would still work. The same enclosure has even been used in space!

These products use USB Video Class (UVC) and USB Audio Class (UAC) drivers. These drivers come with the operating system, meaning there is no software for you to install and configure! |
Since AV.io models have no driver software, what do I need to capture video content? |
To capture video content with the AV.io models, you will need a software application that works with UVC hardware. Some such applications are native to certain operating systems, while most others need to be downloaded and installed from a third-party source. |
Are there any configuration options at all with AV.io 4K? |
AV.io Config allows users several basic configuration options. Users can enable/disable special capture frame sizes, select the audio pair for capture, set aspect ratio preservation, choose power-saving performance mode, and update firmware on their AV.io 4K device. |
What interface is needed for AV.io 4K? |
AV.io 4K connects to your computer via USB. It works best with USB 3.0 (SuperSpeed), but can also work with reduced performance (and without audio capture) when plugged into a USB 2.0 port. |
Help! My image appears reversed in my capture application! |
This is just a visual quirk – image mirroring happens with most UVC-friendly applications. But don’t worry! All captured video content will appear correctly despite appearing reversed in your application! |
There are black bars on either side of my captured video content. How do I get rid of these? |
By default, AV.io models preserve the aspect ratio of your input signal by adding black bars to the sides or top and bottom of the frame if the application using the signal requests a frame size with a different aspect ratio. This aspect ratio preservation option can be disabled by using the AV.io Config tool. |
